ORNL East Campus Modernization (KDA Project)

The complex includes the Computational Sciences Building, the Research Office Building and the Engineering Technology Facility. These facilities comprise more than 370,000 square feet of laboratory and office space, including the nation’s largest unclassified computing facility (40,000 square feet) and houses what is currently the world’s fastest open use supercomputer capable of performing 100 teraflops (trillion calculations per second).

The facilities were designed for efficiency and a comprehensive energy-model report demonstrated a 23% energy savings over a conventional, minimally code-compliant buildings.

The project attained LEED® certification from the United States Green Building Council.

The project won the Associated Builders and Contractors National Excellence in Construction Award of Excellence.”
